Digimap: Environment maps & scheduled downtime

New content –  access to Environment Digimap

Digimap is an online UK map and map data resource provided by Edina. We currently have subscription access to Roam (OS maps) and Ancient Roam (Landmark’s historic maps). However, we have recently acquired free access to Environment Digimap until 31 July 2014.  More information about Digimap can be found on Edina’s help pages.
digimapEnvironment Digimap provides Land Cover maps from 1990, 2000 and 2007, which come from the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH). These maps use satellite data to classify different areas e.g. types of woodland and grassland, bogs, swamps, rock and much more.  For more information see Environment Digimap help online. Staff and students already subscribed to Roam and/or Ancient Roam can easily follow the links to register for access to Environment Digimap after logging in to Digimap. New users can register for Roam, Ancient Roam and Environment Roam at the same time.

Improved printing in Ancient Roam

Improved printing options in Ancient Roam make it much easier to print a selected area including overlapping maps. Printing now functions the same as it does for modern OS maps in Roam.

Scheduled downtime – January 28 2014

An essential database upgrade is taking place on Tuesday 28 January. Digimap will therefore be unavailable between 8:30 and 10am. The service will then recommence but be considered ‘at risk’ between 10 and 12am.
