Koç University Library visitors

Koc

Çiğdem Yıldırım, Kara Jones and Ersan Dur

During the week of 6-10 June we hosted two colleagues from Koç University, Turkey. Ersan Dur and Çiğdem Yıldırım are Project Coordinator and Reference Librarian respectively at the Suna Kıraç Library at Koç University, just outside of Istanbul.

Ersan and Çiğdem spent a week with us in the University of Bath Library, largely in the Research Services team but also exchanging ideas with colleagues from around the Library and externally, with a trip to Bath Spa University Library and a journey to the University of Northampton for an event on Open Access advocacy.

Their visit here was not coincidental. Koç University is a strategic international partner with the University of Bath, with opportunities for Bath academics to collaborate with Koç University academics, and even possible student exchanges.  Our discussions have centred around strategies for services offered by both libraries to support researchers and benefit both institutions.  Kate Robinson, University Librarian at Bath noted “I am delighted that Ersan and Çiğdem have joined us this week. Their visit has sparked some very interesting conversations and it’s clear we have much in common and a good deal to share with each other. I feel sure that this is the beginning of a useful and fruitful alliance.”
